BondA debt instrument issued for a period of more than one year with the purpose of raising capital by borrowing.
CertificateA document certifying ownership. This certificate should be kept in a safe place.
Compounding InterestCompounding interest is calculated based on both the original principal amount invested and on any non-distributed interest that has been added to the principal.
Debenture StockA type of debt instrument issued structured to pay specified interest amounts at specified intervals. Interest can be distributed at regular intervals, depending on the terms of the issue.
Debt instrumentA written promise to repay a debt.
Dividend PaymentA distribution of a portion of a company's earnings made to shareholders.
Face ValueThe dollar value (or original cost) of a security. This is the value used to calculate interest or dividend payments and can also be referred to as the par value or nominal value.

NPTThe National Property Trust.
Principal AmountThe principal amount invested is the 'Face Value' of an obligation that must be repaid at maturity. This is separate from the Interest. Principal payments do not have tax deducted.
Proportionate Ownership SchemeA Proportionate Ownership Scheme is a contributory scheme that involves the purchase by multiple investors in order to acquire the same real property. Can also be referred to as 'Direct Property Investment'.
Record DateThe date established by the Issuer to determine the holders who are entitled to receive a dividend or distribution.
RegistrarA person or organisation responsible for maintaining records of ownership of its investments (securities).
RegistryThe official record of investment (or security) owners.
SecurityInvestment that signifies evidence of debt or ownership of a company or other assets. Some of the most frequently used types of securities include stocks, bonds, options, and futures.
